QR for Instagram: one scan, one more follower

The right QR code contains the public URL of your profile. The one that appears when you log in is for something else and must not be printed.

Direct answer

Use https://www.instagram.com/tu-usuario/ as the QR content. Generate it at 3–4 cm per side, test it with the camera and place it where your audience is already looking: packaging, shop window, card or screen.

Where the right link comes from

In the app, open your profile, tap “Share profile” and copy the link. You can also type it by hand: https://www.instagram.com/tu-usuario/. That link opens the profile in the browser and, if the user has the app, offers to open it there.

What you must not use is the QR code Instagram shows to log in on another device: that code is temporary, tied to a session and does not represent your profile. Printing it would be a security and branding mistake.

How to generate the QR code

  1. Choose the Instagram type in the QRPro Cloud studio.
  2. Type your username with or without “@”; the generator builds the canonical URL.
  3. Adjust color and logo if you need them, with level H correction.
  4. Download SVG for print or PNG for social media and test the scan.

If you change your username, the old QR code stops working. That is why it pays to check the profile before a large print run and, if you expect changes, use your own link with a redirect.

Where it works best

  • Packaging: connects the product with the community and the instructions.
  • Shop window or counter: 8–10 cm, at eye level.
  • Card and CV: 1.5–2 cm, next to the written username.
  • Screens and presentations: include the @ as text for those who do not scan.
  • Events: a large poster to follow the account live.

Context: add “Follow us on Instagram” next to the code. A QR code with no text gets ignored; with a clear reason, it gets scanned.

Design without breaking readability

You can use the Instagram gradient as the module color, as long as you keep enough contrast with the background. Avoid backgrounds with photos, glare or light gradients. If you add a logo, it must not cover the three position corners and must take up less than 20% of the area.

SVG for printing; PNG of 1024 px for a story or an email. Do not reuse a screenshot of the app's QR code: it usually has low resolution and ragged edges.
